How to clean ProScanner parts and best maintenance practices.
You can use any multipurpose cleaning spray without a bleaching agent (Lysol, Formula 409, Simple Green, etc.). Please don’t soak the ProScanner, and ensure it is dry before the next person steps on (for safety - don’t want anyone to slip!), but multipurpose cleaning spray is perfectly fine to use on the scanner.
Cleaning the Camera Lens
In most cases, the camera lens will not need to be cleaned. However, if you find smudges or dirt on the lens, follow these instructions to clean the lens without damaging it.
- Use a soft lens-cleaning brush to clear away dust or dirt particles,
- then use a clean microfiber cloth that is designed to clean lenses, and gently wipe the lens in a circular motion.
- If a clean microfiber cloth does not remove smudges and fingerprints, you can use a cleaning solution designed for cleaning camera lenses or glasses.
- When using a cleaning solution, apply the solution to the microfiber cloth. Do not apply the cleaning solution directly to the lens.
Lubricant Guide for Turntable
I am including some images below that will walk you through how to apply a lubricant to the turntable to help reduce these issues. You can use our recommended lubricant or any bicycle lubricant. Please do not use WD-40.
1. Carefully set your turntable on its side and apply a few drops of the lubricant on all bearings. |
2. Carefully remove the two handles and flip your turntable on its back to expose the motor. |
3. Apply tape around the structure of the motor, outlining its current placement for easy re-installation and proper gear alignment. IMPORTANT: you must be precise in installing the motor in its original position to avoid misalignment. |
4. Unscrew the four screws and unplug the turntable wire harness to remove the motor. |
5. Apply a few drops of the lubricant between the bearing and rubber molding (see arrow). Re-attach the turntable wire harness and screw back the motor, carefully aligning it within the taping. |
***Recommended Lubricants: bicycle or sewing machine lubricants like Tri-Flow are perfect for this application. Teflon-based lubricants is also highly recommended.
