Many of our V4 units are now 5 years-old and may have limited hardware support options.
If you're considering purchasing a used Fit3D Unit, we're thrilled to potentially welcome you into our community and assist you in getting started with scanning clients. However, before you make your decision, there are some important factors to consider.
-
Warranty and Replacement Parts: Many of the V4 Fit3D units being resold are out of warranty, as they are 4-5 years old. Consequently, we no longer have replacements available for much of the hardware, including camera towers and laptops. Why? Because we have sent them to customers already and used up the supply. This limitation is common with aging consumer electronic items. Therefore, if you purchase a used V4 unit and encounter issues with the 3D sensors or computer, we won't be able to provide you with replacement parts.
It is worth noting that V5 & V6 systems share a common technical infrastructure to account for this going forward. -
Consider Upgrading: Many clients who previously owned V4 systems have already upgraded to the newer ProScanner hardware. This upgrade could also be an option for you. However, it's essential to be aware of the warranty issue with V4 units before making a purchase through third-party networks. Most new sales and transferred units are of the V5 or V6 architecture. The main difference between these 2 was a vendor change of a sub-component.
-
Paid Service Plan: All Fit3D units come with a paid service plan. It's important to note that if a previous owner tells you otherwise, this information is incorrect. The service plan is necessary for ensuring the proper functioning and support of your Fit3D unit.
Before finalizing your purchase decision, we encourage you to carefully consider these factors. While a used Fit3D unit can still provide value and functionality, understanding the limitations and potential challenges upfront will help you make an informed choice. If you have any further questions or require assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team. We're here to help you every step of the way.
